Description
Commissioned in 2024 by the Beauvais International Cello Festival under the impetus of Emmanuelle Bertrand, this piece was premiered on June 1, 2024 during a concert-reading entitled "The songs of the earth and of the living".
Élise Bertrand chose to write an arched musical form to embody the symbolism of nature's eternal rebirth season after season, but also of the mythical phoenix, rising from its own ashes. The phoenix, here feminine, also represents the symbolic relationship to woman, to the performer, and to the composer.
