” Written for flute, clarinet and piano, my Techno-parade is constructed in a single movement and on a continuous pulse from one end to the other. Two very incisive motifs swirl and collide, giving the piece its character that is both festive and anxious. The howls of the clarinet and the obsessive patterns of the piano seek to recapture the brutal energy of techno music. In the center of the piece, the pianist (with the help of his page turner!) continues his rhythms in the piano, using a brush and sheets of paper placed on the strings, accompanied by the noisy sounds of the flute (close to a snare drum timbre) and the glissandi of the clarinet. After this percussive break, the three instruments seem drawn into a rhythmic trance that ends the piece on a frenetic Tempo. Written for the tenth anniversary of the Festival de l'Empéri, my Techno-parade is dedicated to its three creators Eric Le Sage, Paul Meyer and Emmanuel Pahud.
