Description
The "Two Pieces" for viola, originally written for the Italian violist Maurizio Barbetti, are of very contrasting character. The first, "Suspended but still moving forward," develops a four-note motif into which both rhythmic and lyrical elements are inserted. At the end, the initial motif transforms into a kind of exotic bird song in the equatorial forest.
The second piece, "With energy, very determined", develops an arpeggiated motif over a relentless pulsed bass.
Created in 2015, the Due Pezzi only recently found their definitive form, especially the second one, under the bow of Alain Celo to whom they are dedicated.
