Description
The first and third movements share the same choreographic dimension, a twilight atmosphere, hypnotic effects, and the principle of unfolding through successive variations. If a slow procession – a sort of threnody – opens and closes the first movement, bringing a feeling of diffuse threat, the third unfolds in a climate of resignation, fatalism, and abandonment. As for the second, seemingly lighter, the major/minor frictions and the encounters of spicy notes draw this lullaby built in the shape of an arch towards mystery.
