Description
Autumn Elegy was inspired by the picturesque landscapes of the eponymous season in Canada's National Capital Region.
Steeped in the Impressionist style, the work evokes a solitary walk in the woods where the descending piano passages represent falling leaves and the saxophone melody is a window into the soul of the passerby.
This work is part of a cycle dedicated to the four seasons (available from the same publisher) composed of:
- Spring Sonatina for soprano saxophone and piano ,
- Summer Scherzo for alto saxophone and piano
- Autumn Elegy for soprano saxophone and piano,
- Winter Fantasy for Alto Saxophone and Piano
