Description

Premiere on March 28, 1995 at the Wallraf-Richartz-Museum in Cologne (Germany), by Gérard TEMPIA-BONDA (violin), Daniel VAGNER (viola) and Pierre FOURCADE (cello). This trio was commissioned by the granddaughter of Maurice Denis, Nabi painter (1870/1943) and was premiered at the Maurice Denis Museum in Saint Germain en Laye

I found it interesting to return to the music after this fresco of 7 paintings which bear the name of the lieder of Robert Schumann "Frauenliebe und leben" which inspired the painter.

I do not "recount" the unfolding of these paintings but the tenderness which emanates from them and which truly carried me throughout the development of my work.

The first painting describes the birth of this woman and until the last painting, the painter will tell all the important stages of the life of a woman as he imagines (childhood,
engagement, maternity, etc.) and this woman appears most often, if not always, surrounded by light and airy vegetation. Moreover, in most of Maurice Denis's paintings, the characters are linked to quite imposing, even omnipresent, vegetation.

A single musical borrowing: a minor perfect chord with double appoggiatura of the third and the sixth found in the first song: Seit ich ihn.

These paintings are located at the Maurice Denis Museum in Saint Germain en Laye
