Description
The Metamorphosis Notebook was designed as a school of listening: listening to the instrument's resonances, but also listening to one's own ability to influence sound. Thanks to a wide range of playing modes, nuances, and precisely notated pedaling, this notebook allows one to grasp and control multiple piano sounds, varied, contrasting, and unexpected: the search for sound colors, beyond digital realization, constitutes the central musical challenge. The Metamorphosis Notebook explores the principle of variation in various directions: variation of the starting material, stated in the first piece, variations of playing modes, colors, and resonances. These miniatures cover the study cycle of a young pianist: they thus lend themselves to bringing together all the students of a piano class in a collective project where each, according to their degree of instrumental mastery, contributes to the continuous metamorphosis of the text.
