Description
By working on an abstract "pianistic material", the Piano Material cycle focuses on the experience of listening to sound, resonance and the infinitely varied, subtle and refined sonic potential of the piano. Sound is thus a material that must be delicately sculpted through multiple qualities of attack, through fine and gradual control of the different pedals, through a sensitive dosage of the intensity of each of the notes of the broad harmonic volutes that run through the score to create in turn luminous scintillations or dark and mineral masses.
The pieces Piano Material II, III and IV were commissioned by the Versailles Grand Parc Urban Community for students at the Versailles Regional Conservatory.
