Rouges vitrail
Rouges Vitrail is a work written around the variations in brightness and hue of different shades of red stained glass throughout a full day, from dawn to dusk. The piece thus moves from dark red to brilliant red, before returning to darkness, in an arched musical form.
This is a commission from the Festival Radio France Occitanie, at the instigation of the Trio Da Vinci.

Description
Rouges Vitrail is a piece written around the different shades of red that a stained glass window takes on over the course of a full day. Red in stained glass is a filtering color, not very radiant, which sometimes appears black depending on the strength of the light; on the other hand, when the sun hits stained glass, the red exalts. This variation in shard and tint of the glass depending on the sun challenged me deeply, and moved me. The writing of this piece required many observations of stained glass windows at different times of the day, such as those of the Priory Saint-Ayoul (Provins), those of the Sainte-Chapelle (Paris), or those of the Cathedral Notre-Dame of Chartres.
I designed this piece around several points for reflection: the idea of slowing down the light ray, the perception of red according to its nuances, the very gradual changes in colors; but also according to my own emotions in front of the bright red of the stained glass: the impression of the exaltation of a form of violence, of provocation, a warm and fighting pride.
The piece sweeps across the red stained glass window from dawn to dusk, changing from red-black to bright red, before returning to darkness, with a musical arching shape.
