Description
This piece - besides the pianists changing places during the performance - also includes an element of "musical theater." Here are some suggestions for stage performance, but everyone can imagine others.
Measures 77-78: the* pianist in the center ends up ejecting the other two and then indulges in a debauchery of virtuosity. To do this, it is necessary to greatly extend the three measures delimited by the repeat bars; if necessary, improvise freely. The two protagonists, standing and furious, try to stop this surge. One of them, for example, threatens the “virtuoso” by raising a heavy object at him: hammer, bust (in plaster!), etc., or by pointing a revolver at him (preferably unloaded!). The other, panicked, tries to prevent his colleague from committing the irreparable...
The pianist who remained seated, unaware of the whole affair, finally stopped and said these words: " Finally alone! " before calmly attacking the main theme; the other two tried to stop him with furious chords... and succeeded! Disappointed, the pianist in the center collapsed on the keyboard with his arms and elbows, as if to prevent access.
The other two pianists sit back down, vigorously straighten out their recalcitrant colleague... and everyone leaves in a good mood.
In the execution, avoid any pachydermic heaviness (especially in the lower register) and keep the initial tempo. When the case arises, choose fingerings that avoid stepping on your neighbor's fingers or scratching them! and have fun!
* The pianist, because you must avoid having three pianists of the same sex!!!
