Description

This study aims to explore the essential characteristics of a composer's musical language through one of his most significant works. The Piano Etudes allow us to examine and analyze Debussy's distinctive pianistic texture, his original conception of motifs and phrasing, and his sense of timbre, which he deploys both in the art of arranging sound layers and in his subtle and complex harmony. All these concepts are explored through specific examples.

In terms of form, the composer moves with the greatest freedom and thus seems to defy the possibilities of analytical representation. This is why, throughout this study, the author has focused on highlighting the perceptible aspects of form, offering simple yet nuanced analytical approaches.

This notebook is therefore aimed at students, interpreters of DEBUSSY and all those who know that musical analysis is the means of keeping the mind and ear awake, by questioning an inexhaustible material that always eludes us, in order to rediscover the sensations of the creative moment.
