Sonates n° 1 à 3, op. V. Volume 1

The purpose of transcribing these Sonatas is to provide violists, whether they play on modern or period instruments, with the musical, stylistic and technical quintessence of the art of the violin at the beginning of the 18th century.
We have endeavored to scrupulously respect Corelli's original manuscript and, for the ornamentation of the slow movements, the edition produced by Estienne Roger where we find the "Adagios composed by Mr. Corelli as he plays them."
A basso continuo performance is provided, but this edition of course allows continuo players to exercise their talents (solo cello part provided).

This first notebook includes Sonatas 1, 2 and 3 which are similar to the Sonata da chiesa form.

Some movements of these Sonatas can be approached during cycle 2, others require greater instrumental mastery.

Le propos de la transcription de ces Sonates est de mettre à disposition des altistes, qu’ils jouent sur instruments modernes ou sur instruments anciens, la quintessence musicale, stylistique et technique de l’art du violon au début du XVIIIe siècle.
Nous nous sommes attachées à respecter scrupuleusement le manuscrit original de Corelli et, pour l’ornementation des mouvements lents, l’édition réalisée par Estienne Roger où l’on trouve les ”Adagios composés par Mr Corelli comme il les joue”.
Une réalisation de la basse continue est proposée mais cette édition permet bien sûr aux continuistes d’exercer leurs talents (partie de violoncelle seul fournie).

Ce premier cahier comporte les Sonates 1, 2 et 3 qui s’apparentent à la forme Sonata da chiesa.

Certains mouvements de ces Sonates peuvent être abordés au cours du cycle 2, d’autres, demandent une plus grande maîtrise instrumentale.
