Description

Work commissioned by the Grand Paris Sud-Ouest urban community for its music conservatories, notably the CRR of Boulogne-Billancourt.

On four notes, D-E-G-Ab, an episodic humming runs through the piece in the background. On top of this will be grafted an ascending, somewhat solemn gesture, in the form of phrases that will cover the entire range of the instrument, and whose double sounds with a regular flow will soon have to respect an accelerando and a crescendo. In contrast, another element, with a supple, melodic and expressive character, describes curves of descending direction. These arise from two fixed notes, C#-Bb, which return stubbornly, like a signal. Two paths thus evolve in opposite directions, intersecting each other. A play of echoes is established from these components, and puts them into perspective.

The piece demands a very colorful performance from the performer, with as diverse a palette of nuances as possible.

When listening to this music, one should not perceive a strong, mechanical pulse. The sounds evolve like those of nature, in a flexible way.
