Description
Head First is a piece composed for piano and mini drums. The only thing missing is the bass drum.
With the beginning indication Very rhythmic, with groove, quite rock!, everything is said.
It's percussion to be played like drums: demanding tempo, respecting rhythms, well-marked accents and ghost notes, polyrhythms and dialogue with the piano. And of course, flashes, ras, and rolls to progress technically and master the snare drum.
A word of advice: first play with your head, since rhythm, tempo and therefore polyrhythm are mathematics!
Finally, the piano part is essential. It doesn't accompany. It's a duet.
Loops to spin without moderation.
Work composed for the PerKu en Herbe 2017 competition.
