Description

The 15 short pieces that make up Instants Photographiques for solo viola each evoke a particular moment or element of photographic art, testifying to the link that unites the image to music.

Entailing different characters, colours, timbres and playing modes, the melody, harmonic or even rhythmic and percussive writing are highlighted according to the pieces, in a framework that is sometimes strict, sometimes very free, revealing, by juxtaposing, a contrasting panoramic point of view.

Apart from the Overture , the Exposition and the Resolution , everyone has the freedom to choose the number and order of the pieces, which, if the work is played in its entirety, offers 479,001,600 combinations, allowing each performer to create their own musical photograph.

The play is accessible to students at the end of the 2nd and 3rd cycles.
