La Mue

opus 30

Description

After composing a sonata for violin and cello (2018), a string quartet (2023) and three pieces for solo violin (2022), solo viola (2023) and solo cello (2024), it was quite natural for me to compose a string trio in the summer of 2024: "La mue" (The Moult) commissioned by the Festival les Inouïes. This trio pays homage to the transformation that every being experiences, from childhood to adulthood, the moult through learning, encounters, the emotion of transformation. The work presents a theme and seven variations, thus offering facets that are sometimes slow, ornate, canonical, a scherzo... The final return to the theme carries a different flavor, filled with the scents of metamorphosis.
