Commissioned by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and Radio France.
Premiere on March 5, 2014 in Chicago (USA), by Mathieu DUFOUR (flute) and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Charles DUTOIT.

French premiere on December 10, 2015 by Mathieu DUFOUR (flute) and the Orchestre National de France, conducted by Ch. Eschenbach.

To Come Out into the Day is the original name of the Book of the Dead of ancient Egypt. These papyrus scrolls were placed near the mummy to help him succeed in his journey to the afterlife and access the light of Osiris. This work consisted of a series of prayers, magic formulas to open doors, invocations, and fabulous stories in the service of the dead. For to experience this second birth and see the clarity of the Justified, a series of trials awaited the deceased. It is this spiritual journey that my Concerto evokes, a journey of shadow and light to the land of Amenti, the paradise of the ancient Egyptians.
