Description

Composed at the request of Pierre Dumail, Elise Bertrand's Sonatina for solo piccolo is in four short movements.
The total duration of the sonatina is approximately eight minutes.
The first movement is in sonata form, the second movement presents a theme and three variations, the third movement is a dreamy, free-form intermezzo, and the finale a Rondo.
Certain thematic elements are repeated from one movement to the next, thus unifying the piece.
