Description
Caribbean music is part of our cultural heritage. It has borrowed and adapted rhythms and harmonies from our European music; it has been transformed through contact with the indigenous peoples rooted in this region of the globe, to create its own musical identity. A strong African specificity gives it a particularly danceable and swaying character.
The flute is a very present instrument in this music, both in the French Caribbean (flute of Mornes) and in the Spanish Caribbean. Throughout this volume, we will discover many syncopated rhythms specific to each of these musics. In this regard, rhythmic exercises will be offered in the form of small audio patterns, extracted directly from the pieces.
