Description
Seven new pieces* for solo saxophone comprise this latest release in the Saxiana series. Continuing their mission to expand the saxophone repertoire, these miniatures, commissioned from seven composers, are perfectly suited for teenagers seeking substantial, intermediate-level musical material to develop their aesthetic sense, technique, and creativity. Faithful to the instrument of Adolphe Sax, the seven artists have composed with their own intrinsic poetry: spectralism with Frenchman Thierry Alla, virtuosic folklore with Catalan David Salleras, poetic atonality with Canadian Robert Lemay, contemplative intimacy with Italian Gualtiero Dazzi, neoclassicism with Belgian Alain Crepin, neotonal lyricism with Japanese Ryo Noda, and post-dodecaphony with Frenchman Vincent David. A glimpse into the saxophone of tomorrow emerges from this collection of miniatures, where the expressive depth, at the heart of the compositional process, already allows the student to project themselves onto the professional stage.
