Le Violon de Mimi

Chansons pour les grands violonistes dès 4 ans

Pascale SERVRANCKX Arrangement by Ludovic THIRVAUDEY

Here is a violin method for young children aged 4 and up, presented as a beautifully illustrated book. The 17 short songs immerse us in the life of Mimi the mouse.

First, we sing the songs, and then we play them on the violin—it's that simple! Learning is very gradual. The teacher can accompany the student on the piano or with a second violin part to enhance the enjoyment of playing together. These scores are available separately as free downloads, as are recordings of all the songs in different versions: vocals and piano, violin and piano, and solo piano accompaniment.

Description

Here is a violin method aimed at young children from the age of 4 , in the form of a beautiful illustrated book, which can be used both in individual and group lessons.

The ease and speed of learning are such when children sing the pieces before playing them that the author has imagined lyrics on existing themes or on her own little compositions with a little mouse, Mimi, as the main character.

First, we sing along with the lyrics and nuances! Children love to sing while miming the words. This gets their whole body moving and connected to the music. Next, we can sing with the note names, having fun observing the note positions, rhythms, and markings for nuances and articulations on the sheet music. In this way, the young student gradually discovers musical notation. Finally, we play the song on the violin without the sheet music, allowing us to focus entirely on playing, posture, and sound. The lyrics give each song its own unique character and allow us to approach musical interpretation right from the start of learning.

The pace of learning varies from student to student or group to group; it is important to ensure that each concept is well understood before introducing a new one.

The piano accompaniments are simple enough for non-pianist teachers to accompany their students. In most pieces, the right hand doubles the violin melody, allowing the student to adjust the intonation. The second violin part was composed with the same approach; it can be played by a more advanced student as well as by the teacher. The sheet music for all these accompaniments is available for free download.

The recording of all the songs has been completed and is available for free download, as well as instrumental versions (piano and violin, solo piano accompaniments).

Mimi's School is an activity book that complements the songs in Mimi's Violin and is available separately (GB10577). It includes warm-up exercises, preparatory exercises for the pieces, scales, musical games, and musical notation.
