"Written for a New Year's concert for my friends Eric Le Sage and Paul Meyer, this Sextet is marked by the spirit of entertainment and good humor. The first movement, "Dynamic," is a series of variations that multiply the rhythmic processes inherited from American repetitive music. The central "Nocturne" is a sweet and sorrowful confidence sung by the clarinet over the harmonic carpets of the strings and the piano. Finally, the "Festive" releases a feverish joy around motifs among which we find a nod to Schubert's Trout. The score ends with a cadential snub. "
