Alexis CIESLA

This piece is composed of two distinctly contrasting movements.

The first is a kind of written improvisation, particularly calm, playing only in the lower register of the two instruments, very freely and without tempo.

The second one, on the other hand, is extremely rhythmic, lively and full of energy.

Description

This piece was born from my desire to bring together two of my flautist friends who didn't know each other, to create a link, so to speak. One is my colleague at the Saint-Priest conservatory, the other is a soloist with the Lyon National Orchestra. So I wrote it, and the meeting took place.

This piece is composed of two distinctly contrasting movements.

The first is a kind of written improvisation, halfway between contemporary and traditional music, particularly calm, which relies essentially on plays of timbre, friction, breaths… playing only in the lower register of the two instruments, very freely and without tempo.

The second piece, on the other hand, is extremely rhythmic, lively, and full of energy. It begins with an almost homorhythmic passage, followed by a moment where each flautist takes the lead in turn, playing a solo that seems almost improvised. Then comes another homorhythmic passage, followed by a moment where the two soloists truly improvise, each in turn.
