Description
Commissioned by the Les Flâneries Musicales festival in Reims.
Rhapsodie Japonaise, drawing on traditional modes, finds its inspiration in Japanese culture. This work with its exotic hue evokes at times a sensual Geisha dance, at others Noh theatre with its moments of trance, and at still others dances ranging from those of medieval warriors to the nighttime dances of modern Japanese cities.
Furthermore, in this work the author sought to pay homage to directors such as Nagisa Oshima, Takeshi Kitano or Akira Kurosawa.
